The Marathon Project Gold Wave Marathon

The Marathon Project Gold Wave Marathon is the semi-elite race that takes place the day before the professional marathon.

The Marathon Project course is designed for the athlete wanting to maximize their potential and run as fast as possible. The six-loop route is nearly pancake flat with a high point of 1,142 feet above sea level and a low point of 1,135 feet above sea level. Runners start on Wild Horse Pass Road and head east for just over three tenths of a mile before turning right on Loop Road. At that point they are on the 4.26 mile loop that they will run six times. The stretch of road is actually just over two miles long but is divided by a median throughout. Athletes will stay on one side of the median to the end of each side of the loop where they’ll traverse a very smooth roundabout to get to the other side. On the final loop runners will turn right onto Wild Horse Pass Road and into the finish (same spot as the start).
