Seoul Marathon

The Seoul Marathon, organized by The Dong-A Ilbo newspaper and commonly known as the Dong-A Marathon, first ran in 1931 as the Youngdungpo Marathon and is one of the oldest continuously run marathons in the world. It carries World Athletics Platinum Label status, the only race in Korea to hold that designation, and is recognized as Asia's first World Athletics Heritage event. The race starts at Gwanghwamun Plaza in central Seoul and finishes at Jamsil Sports Complex, drawing roughly 35,000 to 40,000 runners across the full marathon and 10km distances each March. Ten of South Korea's 28 national marathon records have been set at this race.
