Race Overview
The Isle of Wight Marathon is a single-lap road race that starts and finishes at the Isle of Wight Community Club in Cowes. Organiser Ryde Harriers has run it every year since 1957 and calls it the longest continuously run marathon in the UK. The rolling route takes in the quieter western side of the island through Gurnard, Porchfield, Shalfleet and Yarmouth, and returns via Thorley, Chessell, Ningwood and Northwood. Mile markers are posted along the course, water stations are about every 3.5 miles, and the time limit is 6 hours 30 minutes. The course records are 2:28:30 for men (Ross Skelton) and 2:56:38 for women (Charlie Metcalfe).
