Race Overview
The Great North Run is a half marathon run each September from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields in North East England, crossing the Tyne Bridge early in the 13.1-mile course. With 63,000 entrants in the 2026 edition, it is the largest half marathon in the world by field size. The men's course record is 58:56, set by Martin Mathathi in 2011; the women's course record is 1:04:28, set by Brigid Kosgei in 2019.
