Race Overview
Runs along the flat, crushed-stone Elk River Trail in Gassaway, West Virginia. First held in 2022 near Clay, West Virginia, timed to the Clay County Golden Delicious Apple Festival; moved to Braxton County's Gassaway Depot starting with the 2025 race and renamed the Elk River Braxton County Monster Marathon as part of the new West Virginia Cryptid Race Series. Organized with the Elk River Trail Foundation and timed by Appalachian Timing Group. The trail grade is about 0.5%.
