Race Overview
The Atlanta Marathon is one of Georgia's largest road races, drawing roughly 16,000 runners across the marathon, half marathon and 5K each year in downtown Atlanta. Its historic course was known for sustained rolling hills between miles 8 and 18, and the half marathon has served as the USATF Half Marathon Championships in 2025 and 2026. Starting with the 2027 edition, the race moves to a new March date and an entirely new downtown course, replacing the Mercedes-Benz Stadium start used through 2026. The men's and women's course records, 2:18:50 and 2:41:12, were both set in 2008 by Oleg Marusin and Alena Vinnitskaya.
