San Francisco Marathon (July 23, 2023) - San Francisco, CA - The premiere race this week is the world famous San Francisco Marathon. While not a major, the SF Marathon started in 1977 and draws and international crowd. This year marks the biggest field they have ever had. There are too many distances to list.

Königsschlösser Marathon (July 22, 2023) - Füssen, Germany - This is the only European race we’re highlighting today. The Königsschlösser Marathon gives runners a tour of this historic city just north of the Austrian border. It is near the famous Neuschwanstein Castle and sits at the foot of the Bavarian Alps, both of which are featured along the 26.2 mile course. Current outlook is a bit rainy, but nothing strong enough to block those views.

Totem to Totem Marathon (July 22, 2023) - Skidegate, BC, Canada - Also featuring a half marathon and 10K, Totem to Totem is an out and back along a highway that runs by its namesake totem pole. It’s a manually timed race and will not give you a chance to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Roads are typically not shut down, so stay safe and out of traffic.

Conquer the Canyon Marathon (July 22, 2023) - Wellsboro, PA - A Boston qualifier, this marathon is a double loop course of the half marathon. There is also a 5K and 10K that are both out and backs on the course. This year is the first year for the Conquer the Canyon non-binary division.

Ruidoso Marathon (July 22, 2023) - Ruidoso, NM - Starting at Wingfield Park, this marathon dips into the Mescalero Reservation. There is also a half, 5K and 1 mile kids run, the latter two taking place the day before.

Xenia Avenue Marathon (July 22, 2023) - Brooklyn Park, MN - Running for its 4th year, this is a small, flat, and certified marathon if you’re looking for something to PR with. The race is an out and back that features multiple loops.

Wharf to Wharf (July 23, 2023) - Santa Cruz, CA - The second race in California this week, Wharf to Wharf is a 6 mile race with historically great running conditions. The race does have prize money, and as such attracts elite racers from around the country. Its 16,000 spots have sold out.

Nova Scotia Marathon (July 23, 2023) - Barrington, NS, Canada - Claiming to be Nova Scotia’s most scenic run, you’ll see plenty of ocean as you run along the southern short of Nova Scotia. Weather can be unpredictable on the coast, but this time of year it’s temperate and the forecast is looking good.

Deseret News Marathon (July 24, 2023) - Salt Lake City, UT - A Monday race! The Deseret News Marathon is the longest running marathon in Utah, with 2023 being their 53rd year. The route takes runners down into the Salt Lake Valley which typically pushes the temperature into the uncomfortable 70+ range.
